The 4th Avenue Streetscaping Project will improve ADA accessibility, expand bicycle and pedestrian facilities, improve traffic operations, and enhance aesthetics and safety between the new train station site and downtown Coatesville. The project initiates transit-oriented development and promotes area-wide revitalization.
Streetscaping along the four-block stretch of 4th Avenue between Fleetwood Street at the train station and Lincoln Highway (Route 30) is being completed in coordination with the train station development project. In addition to repaving 4th Avenue, the streetscaping initiative includes:
- ADA-compliant sidewalks, ramps, and crosswalks;
- New lighting; and
- Modernized traffic signage.
Construction began in September 2019. By December, the block between Fleetwood Street and Lumber Street had opened to traffic.
The project is being led by the City of Coatesville Redevelopment Authority with funding from PennDOT and the Federal Transit Administration.
