The project provided overflow and long-term parking to accommodate growing ridership. It also completed site improvements following renovation of the historic station building.
The $1.2 million project developed 85 parking spaces in a new lot at the end of Wilson Avenue, which was repaved. The project also installed:
- Sidewalks, crosswalks, curbs, and ADA curb ramps;
- Lighting and security cameras;
- A bicycle rack canopy;
- Motorcycle parking pads;
- Retaining walls; and
Construction began in April 2013 and the extended parking lot opened in August 2013.
The project was led by PennDOT with additional funding by the Borough of Elizabethtown.
