This project will maximize parking and provide lighting, sidewalk improvements, and ADA ramps to accommodate growing ridership and improve access to the train station.
This project involves reconstructing the existing parking lot southwest of the intersection of North Duke Street and McGovern Avenue at the former Fulton Bank, south of Lancaster Station. The lot will be expanded to include the unimproved lot adjoining the existing parking area fronting North Duke Street. The project includes demolition of the existing facilities and parking lot reconstruction, to include:
- New lighting and utilities;
- 56 parking spaces;
- An access gate;
- Security cameras;
- New concrete curbs;
- Sidewalks with ADA-compliant ramps;
- Drainage features, including two rain gardens;
- New bituminous pavement; and
- Parking lot line painting and signage.
Design of the parking lot is complete; construction is expected to begin in Summer 2020 and be completed in Fall 2020. The existing parking lot was closed to the public beginning July 6, 2020, and will remain closed through construction completion.
PennDOT is leading the project with additional funding by the Federal Transit Administration.
