The Mount Joy parking and streetscape project was undertaken to accommodate growing ridership, improve access to trains, and improve aesthetics consistent with local revitalization efforts.
This approximately $2.5 million project (Phase I) reconstructed the Mount Joy Station parking lot and added 67 spaces. Work included a covered walkway, landscaping, and accessibility improvements. The enhancements are consistent with design standards for projects in downtown Mount Joy.
The total project cost of the station, parking lot, and access and overflow parking improvements was approximately $33 million.
Construction was completed in 2012.
The project was led by PennDOT.
