The Keystone Line is an Amtrak Train service that runs between Harrisburg and Philadelphia.   The service connects to SEPTA’s R-5 line and provides a direct connection to New York City.

In 2006, Amtrak, PennDOT, and the Federal Transit Authority (FTA) spent $145 million to upgrade the tracks and signals along the 104-mile Keystone Line.  The Line now offers hourly service, including the 90-minute express service from Harrisburg to Philadelphia.  At top speeds of 110mph, the Keystone Line’s express service is the one of the fastest within the Country, second only to the North East Corridor’s Acela Line.

The Keystone Line has been identified by the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) as one of the ten “high speed corridors" eligible for funding by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).  Congress has allocated $8 billion to be granted to states for intercity rail projects.
